Fall Colours
In the Field:
This image was taken at Olds College in Olds Alberta. I had glanced up before getting in my car after taking some images of plants with coloured leaves and spotted this composition. Out of the frame to the bottom are about 15 feet before the ground. By looking up a whole new world of options appeared. I loved the look of the unique tree trunks that hold up the colourful leaves. I released very quickly that the high contrast would wash the image out, so I firsted tried a 3 exposure HDR, but was still not happy with the exposures, so I then did 5 exposures.
Behind the Camera
Gear: Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm/f2.8.
Exposure: Aperture Priority Exposure at 1/200s & f/5.6, matrix meter, +1.7 exposure, ISO 200, JPG, plus 4 more exposure for HDR.
Handheld, Continuous Shutter High to gather the 5 frames quickly.
On the Computer
The image was first processed in Photoshop with Nik Software HDR Efex Pro 2 which combined the 5 images. Further adjustments in HDR Efex Pro was done to create the image. ACDSee Pro with for web posting processing. Slight crop from original image.
